Reading, 'Riting, 'Rithmetic

So, we're into week 4 of the new school and finally starting to get into a groove. Figuring out this whole second grade thing - bus, homework, and all that jazz. Check out AJA's school bus - picks her up right in from of the house everyday (except the day we ALL missed the alarm and woke up 15 minutes before it got to our house).

As for the homework, we'll get that down soon enough. It is very different than last year. At IDDS homework was given on Fridays to be returned on Mondays. Most of the time AJA had all her homework done by the time we picked her up from the Y on Friday evenings. Now, homework gets assigned on Monday to be turned in by Friday. There's usually 1) a small project-y thing; 2) a writing assignment (rough draft and final draft) using the week's word wall words; and 3) occasionally math homework.

What else...oh, yes there's Japanese! Twice a week AJA has class with her "sensei." You'll have to ask her what she's learned. Once upon a time we promised AJA we'd take her to Japan if she learned Japanese (obviously, at the time, we had NO idea that she would be learning Japanese in 2nd grade). So, I guess we've got to start planning our trip. Wanna come with?
